Custom Items - Ideation Event (February 2019)

Hi there!

I'm looking for help thinking of balanced effects for the custom headgears/quest items.

What's the prize?

By joining the event, you can earn Raffle Tickets (not an in-game item). For each custom headgear, you may earn at most 3 raffle tickets.

Participation: For each headgear you give decent, balanced suggestions, you earn one Raffle Ticket.

Theme: If your headgear effects is attuned to the name, color, and/or theme of the item, then you earn another Raffle Ticket.

Selection: If your headgear's effects are chosen as the effect of the quest headgear (without any major changes), then you earn another Raffle Ticket. Selection of item effects will be done by GM Mercy. The item effects you choose may not exactly be what gets implemented, as some balancing will be considered.

Criteria:

Does it follow the theme of the headgear?

Does the headgear's theme sync with a specific Job, Class, or Profession?

Does it boost an under-powered class (e.g. Super Novice)?

How interesting is your item effect?



What are the raffle tickets for?

Let N be the number of participants in the Ideation Event. There will be at most N-2 raffle draws, with minimum of 3 draws and maximum of 5 draws.

The more raffle tickets you have, the higher your chance of winning.

What can I win?

If your ticket gets drawn, you are a winner.

Once you have been selected as a raffle winner, you get to roll the dice in-game (using /dice).

1. Winners who roll a 6 get to choose which headgear to receive from the first set of headgears to be released AND get a random headgear AND 50 Event Points.
2. Winners who roll a 5 get two random headgears from the first set of headgears to be released.
3. Winners who roll a 4 get one random headgear from the first set of headgears to be released AND 25 Event Points AND 4 Bubblegums AND 4 Battle Manuals.
4. Winners who roll either 1, 2, 3 get a random headgear AND 10 Event Points AND 5 sets of +10 Almusal AND 2 Bubblegums AND 2 Battle Manuals.

For joining the event, you get 5 Event Points and 2 Bubblegums and 3 Battle Manuals.

The first set of headgears to be released will be determined by GM Mercy.

Description: Float like a butterfly, sting like a... butterfly?

Effects: ASPD + 3, ATK -15, HIT -30, when refined to +7 or higher: ASPD +4, when refined to +9 or higher: ASPD +5

Notes: Make this item based on Sigruns Wings (ItemID#5592)

Item name: Santa's Magic Mustache

Description: There's a lot of good boys and girls this year. Ho ho, ha ha.

Effects: MaxWeight + 1200

Notes:

• Classes that don't rely on STR stat almost always have minimum weight capacity but needs special tools such as Traps, Arrows, Ninja Tools, Gemstones, etc. These items take up all the space from the inventory and leave minimum space for looting. This can be troublesome in instances where party shared is enabled and loot gets passed around leaving you constantly at 70% -or worse, 90% weight capacity.
• Make this item based on Grampa Beard (ItemID#2241)
• I was told Lower Headgears don't have slots.

Description: I've always wondered why it was called Mask of Death but it gives life?

Effects: Adds a 7/10% chance to drain 4% HP from inflicted damage when attacking, Heals +.25 SP with a normal attack

Notes: Make this item based on Mr. Smile (ItemID#2278). Middle only. Unrefineable.

Description: Better than energy drinks, but still ensures late night crash


Effects: Decrease after-cast delay by 10%; Increase variable cast time by 15%

Item name: Static Field

Description: A strange trinket that amplifies the static charge of its holder, making contact with that person... a little less romantic.

Effects:
Reduces damage taken from Wind element attack by 8%.
Increases damage taken from Water element attack by 8%.

Has a 10% chance of auto-casting Level 3 Jupitel Thunder when physically attacked.

If a higher level of this skill is learned, then it will be cast.

[Mage-based classes]
Chance increases to 15%.

Notes:

• Lower Headgear
• Jupitel Thunder knocks back enemies.
• This item is meant to help Mage classes against getting mobbed or unintentionally aggroed, making them less reliant on others to get mobs off their back in a pinch. This would help them survive and would empower them to become more strong, independent men and women of magic.
• Not sure about the asset. Was looking for something metallic or lightning-based. Best right now would probably be Item ID# 5767 (Samurai_Mask).

Item name: Junkie's Instinct (alternatively, "Chemist's Instinct" for values education purposes)

Description: A small syringe that fits snugly in the mouth. The wearer often feels a strong, desperate urge to get their fix. Even monster guts can be used for "recreational" purposes if you're brave enough.

Effects:

Adds a 20% chance of dropping either Alcohol, Detrimindexta, or Karva Karvoni Despacito Karvodailnirol when any monster is killed.

Increases damage taken from all sources by 30%.

Notes:

• Lower Headgear
• This aids in the challenge of farming these items at the cost of effectiveness against monsters. It is meant to be a farming item, and is designed to be too impractical to always keep equipped.
• Not sure if it's possible to have a shared drop rate between multiple items. The concept is to have a 20% chance to randomly drop ONLY one of three items from any monster.
• If this isn't possible, maybe each item can drop for 10% chance each.

Item name: Jin of Grave Wounding

Description: A cursed traditional hat in which many spirits reside. The voices are keen to expose the vital points of enemies, but it is said that prolonged exposure also drains the wearer's sanity and life force.

Effects:
ATK+5
Drains 17 SP every 10 seconds. 
If SP falls below 5%, drains 1500 HP every second until death.
Adds a 9% chance to cast Level 1 Dark Claw (Guillotine Cross skill) when auto-attacking.

Effect table for refines:
+7 => 8% chance to cast Level 2 Dark Claw; drains 16 SP every 10 seconds
+8 => 7% chance to cast Level 3 Dark Claw; drains 15 SP every 10 seconds
+9 => 6% chance to cast Level 4 Dark Claw;  drains 14 SP every 10 seconds
+10 or higher => 5% chance to cast Level 5 Dark Claw;  drains 13 SP every 10 seconds 

Notes:

• Upper Headgear (slotted)
• Dark Claw only amplifies short-ranged physical attacks.
• If my understanding is correct, Dark Claw also amplifies damage by other players.
• Meta appears to favor crowd control and range, leaving melee classes feeling underwhelming. 
• This gives incentive to ASPD-based melee builds (ex. Knight and Assassin), making them more viable for MVP hunting.
• THIS ITEM WILL HELP ME MURDER CAPTAIN FERLOCK.
• Long-ranged classes can use this, but will only benefit from the skill damage and not its damage-amplification component.
• If asset is available, Hyegun / Yao Jun hat.
• I hope the item isn't a nightmare to code.

Item name: Pointy Dentures


Description: During the Era of the Dark Affliction, Cramps transmitted immeasurable amounts of Bacillus from its cradle, Ayothaya to Alberta. One bite was believed to have the capacity to kill a town, and spread the also air-borne disease. The pervasive proliferation alerted the elders to put an end to such an enormous pandemic and the leading engineers at the time devised a strange, albeit successful approach to battling the pests, "Fight fire with fire." After a casualty-filled war with the Cramps, only few of the denture-wielding warriors survived, but carried an affliction, what is now more commonly known as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It seemed that the eliminations these warriors had were multitudinous, and they were desperate to find more. As a result, they started breeding the last few of the Cramps.

They were later beheaded, but the Cramp threat continues to this day.

The dentures were never found.

Effects: For every monster killed, there is a 30% chance to reduce aftercast delay by .3 seconds. Reduce SP recovery by 10% 

Notes: Lower gear (We can adjust this to middle or top if deemed too powerful for lower). If Lower, based off of Blood Sucker (Item ID# 18754)

• For farming purposes.
• Values can be adjusted to classes without notable AOE killing skills. Something like (Minstrel/Sura) 100% chance, 1 second reduction.

Description: Named after a play by Shakespeare, this was the only item that survived from the real-life Bermuda shipwreck in 1609.

Effects: Dex +6 | Luck -6 | ASPD -6% | Reduces the cooldown time for Axe Tornado by 1 seconds

Item name: Kingdom Come [1]


Description: Belonged to a legendary Paladin whose unwavering devotion to protect King Schmitz of Glastheim and her knights knew no boundaries. Injuries and grave wounds could not stop her in battle from being the shield her kingdom needed. 


Effects:
VIT + 1 | INT + 1
When HP falls below 20% while using Devotion, Applies the Unwavering Devotion buff to user and characters affected by Devotion. The buff's strength is affected by the number of characters protected by Devotion. Per character, the buff increases defense and magic defense by 70, increases healing received by 2% and increases the duration of the buff by 1.5 secs (up to a max of 5 secs). Cooldown of 3 mins before the buff can be applied again.

(Def +70 | Mdef + 70 | healing received + 2% | Duration + 1.5s) 


Notes:

• Tanks usually fall first, missing out on critical moments such as party-shared loot and EXP when MVP hunting. This item makes recovering from a heavy blow while tanking for the party more manageable.
• Unwavering Devotion is a new kind (made up) of buff.
  
• The buff is applied to caster and Devotion target as well since damage received is dependent on the defense of the character that took the hit.
• Probably difficult or impossible to implement
  
• Royal Guard Only.
• Applies an aura of some sort or a buff icon to know the buff is active.
• Defense is 20
